PM JANMAN - Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups Mission

PVTGs are tribal groups with very low literacy levels, minimal contact with outside world, and extremely low per capita income. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has officially identified 75 PVTGs across India based on specific criteria including pre-agriculture economy, low literacy, low population density, and socio-economic backwardness.

Key benefits include housing assistance, access to clean drinking water and sanitation, electrification, quality primary and secondary education, healthcare services, skill development and livelihood training, and social security support. All interventions are designed to preserve tribal culture while improving living standards.

Eligible PVTG members should contact their respective state tribal affairs department or local tribal development office. Registration can be done through community-level facilitators or block-level coordinators. Documentation includes proof of PVTG membership, residence, and bank details for benefit transfer.

The scheme covers PVTGs across 18 states and Union Territories including Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, West Bengal, and others. Specific PVTGs eligible in your area can be verified with your state tribal affairs office.

No income cap is specified. The scheme targets the most economically disadvantaged PVTG communities. Eligibility is primarily based on belonging to a recognized PVTG, not on income levels. However, state governments may have additional criteria.
