Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) is a flagship government scheme designed to provide collateral-free loans to micro and small business entrepreneurs. Launched in 2015, it aims to promote financial inclusion and entrepreneurship by offering affordable credit to non-corporate and non-farm small/micro businesses. The scheme provides loans up to Rs.10 lakh through designated banks, non-banking financial companies, and microfinance institutions. Three loan products are offered: Shishu (up to Rs.50,000), Kishore (Rs.50,001 to Rs.5 lakh), and Tarun (Rs.5 lakh to Rs.10 lakh). Beneficiaries include first-time entrepreneurs, existing small businesses seeking expansion, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
