Any person with a recognized disability (physical, sensory, mental, or intellectual) is eligible to apply for UDID regardless of age, gender, occupation, or income. Children with disabilities can be registered by their parents or guardians. The only requirement is a valid disability certificate from a government hospital or authorized medical practitioner.

UDID card holders get priority access to government schemes like disability pension, skill training, job reservations, educational scholarships, transportation concessions, income tax exemptions, and other welfare benefits. It also serves as a national identifier for disabled persons, ensuring transparent and efficient delivery of services across all states and union territories.

You can apply online through the Swavlamban portal (swavlamban.gov.in) or offline at your state disability welfare office or designated nodal agency. You need to submit medical certification of disability along with identity and residential proof. The application is processed at the district level and the unique ID is generated within 30 days.
